Swimming Pool Regulations

General

1.      The lifeguard is in charge of the pool and is responsible to the Pool Manager, who in turn is responsible to the swimming pool committee of the Village Green Homeowners Association.  Any of the above mentioned people have the authority to revoke pool privileges for the day for any violation of these pool regulations.  Complaints should be referred to the Pool Manager, to the swimming pool committee, or to the Board of Directors.

2.      No one is allowed inside the fenced pool area when the gates are locked.  Appropriate penalties for violators will be determined by the swimming pool committee or by the Board of Directors.

3.      Members and immediate family who have paid the community assessment or recreation fee may use the pool and facilities in accordance with the published schedule.

4.      Use of the swimming pools will be permitted only when a lifeguard, hired by the Village Green Homeowners Association, is in attendance except that swim teams authorized by the Board of Directors to use the pools may provide their own lifeguards if they are fully qualified.

5.      Each person entering the pool area must sign in with the lifeguard by name and address.  Non-resident members must also indicate their membership number.

6.      In the case of repeat offenders, or when violations are sufficiently serious so that pool privileges are suspended for more than a day, the individual must appear before the swimming pool committee before his/her privileges will be reinstated.  If the individual is a minor, he/she must be accompanied by a parent.

7.      No alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the pool area except for special events designated by the Board of Directors.

8.      Glass items and pets are not permitted within the fenced area except for special events designated by the Board of Directors.

9.      Persons must place bicycles in the designated area before entering the pool area.

10. Members may form swim teams and request special use of the pools from the Board of Directors.  These teams may include non-association members provided they are less than 25 percent of the team make-up.  This percentage may be altered on an annual basis at the discretion of the Board of Directors.  Non-association swim team members must pay a $25 fee to the Homeowners Association.

11. Both pools are No Smoking areas.

Guests

1.      Guests must sign in and be accompanied by a Village Green member.

2.      Out-of-town guests, living more than fifty miles from Village Green, will not be charged a fee.

3.      Other guests will be charged a fee at the rate of three dollars ($3) per guest per day.  All fees are to be paid to the lifeguard at the time the guests sign in.

Age Limitations

1.      Children under eight (8) years of age must be accompanied at all times by a person sixteen (16) years of age or older who will be responsible for the conduct of the child.

2.      Children over eight (8) years of age may swim without an accompanying adult provided that the child can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the lifeguard that he/she can swim the length of the pool and is safe in the water.

Hours of Operation

1.      Normal hours of operation for each pool will be posted at each pool.

2.      The pool may be closed because of inclement weather at the discretion of the lifeguard.

3.      If mechanical difficulties necessitate the temporary closing of a pool, a notice of that fact will be posted and will indicate when the pool will reopen.

4.      Lifeguards, in accordance with the Tennessee Labor Regulations, may close the pool at least fifteen minutes every two hours.  Fifteen (15) minute lifeguard breaks will be scheduled to begin at 2:00, 4:00 and 7:45 pm.  A thirty minute dinner break will be taken from 5:30 – 6:00 pm.  The pool will be cleared of all swimmers under eighteen (18) years of age during any break periods.

5.      The pools may be reserved for adult swim at the discretion of the Board of Directors.  Adult swim hours will be posted.  An adult, as used herein, is defined as anyone eighteen (18) years of age or older.

Conduct

1.      Parents will be held responsible for the conduct of their children at all times while in the pool area.

2.      Running, pushing, or any other conduct that, in the judgement of the Pool Manager or the lifeguards, endangers the safety of individuals in the pool area is prohibited.  After a warning, anyone who continues to act in an unsafe manner will be asked to leave the pool area and will not be allowed back for the remainder of the day.  Repeat offenders or cases of gross misconduct will be referred to the swimming pool committee for appropriate action.

3.      Diving can be dangerous; therefore, diving into the pools is prohibited, except in designated areas.

4.      Acceptable swimming attire must be worn at all times.  Clothing with frayed edges is strictly prohibited.

5.      Flotation devices that are worn are permitted.  All other flotation devices and pool toys may be permitted at the discretion of the lifeguard.  If the use of flotation devices and pool toys create a nuisance or safety hazard, then they may be banned by the lifeguard.

6.      Organized pool sports (water ball) may be permitted when advance permission is obtained from the lifeguard and will be terminated when directed by the lifeguard.

7.      No one suffering from any infectious sores may use the swimming or wading pools.  Any protective coverings such as bandages must be removed before entering the pools.

8.      Children in diapers must wear protective rubber or plastic pants.
